This part, a bomb cover for the U.S. Army, is used to cap the shell
of an 8” Howitzer before head is installed.
To mold to produce the part was:
- Built in 12
calendar days from kickoff to production
- A single cavity tool
- Screw gated to provide a homogeneous melt at a controlled,
time-varying velocity to drive the melt into evacuated cavity
