The ACM Answer Man Provides Feasible Solutions for Injection Molding Problems

When you have questions about the feasibility of producing a plastic part or product,  we'll work with you to develop your design, fine tuning the engineering and finding flaws or manufacturing problems.

We will then give you answers to your two most important questions:

  1. Can it be made by ACM Molders?
  2. How much will it cost?

Of course, to give you accurate answers to those questions, and others you may have, there is information you'll need to provide about the scope and focus of the project. Some of the questions we will be asking include:

  • What kind of product do you want manufactured?
  • What physical characteristics will it need?
    • Will it need to be made from soft, malleable plastic or hard, rigid material?
    • Does the material need to be flexible?
    • Will the part rub against a metal piece or another plastic piece?
  • What is the size of the part to be produced?
  • Quantity of pieces to be produced? Is it a one-time operation or will there be multiple runs?
  • Will it be subjected to extremes of heat or cold?
  • Does it need to be able to resist the elements; sunlight, water, salt, etc.?
  • Is maintaining color an important factor? Do we need to add UV Stabilizers to prevent fading in direct sunlight?
  • Do you have a completed design? What about a sketch? Or is it still in the idea phase?
  • Will we need to add any design elements to the product; logos? decorations? text? images?
  • What is your budget for this project?

With more than 40,000 different plastic resins to choose from, the more details you can provide about how the product is going to be used, the better able we'll be to recommend the correct materials and injection molding processes to use.

This is vital because you don't want to make the product with $12 / pound material when a 79¢ resin will meet your specifications.

Accurate Information Makes for Economical Production

Whether you are a large manufacturer needing 10,000 widgets twice a year, or an entrepreneur with a product you want to get to market, we're here to help. The ACM Design & Engineering Team can:

  • Help develop your initial design concept
  • Create a prototype
  • Provide the injection mold tooling
  • Manufacture the parts
  • Decorate them if needed
  • Package them to your specifications
  • Ship to wherever you need them

For an in-depth explanation of ACM's quotation process, and the type of information I need to determine the actual cost of a project, read our Quotations page.

If you have any questions about our abilities and how we can help develop your project, call me directly at 765-457-8225, ext. # 13. I will pleased to discuss your concept with you and answer any questions you might have about plastics and the benefits of thermo-plastic injection molding. I look forward to hearing from you.
